The map compares Jakarta’s (the capital city of Indonesia) CO (carbon monoxide) emissions during 2019 and 2020. It aims to generate a visualization about the level of emissions pre-pandemic and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The source of data is Sentinel-5P NRTI CO. The map shows that during the first year of the pandemic (2020), the CO emission was lower than pre-pandemic (green).
Moreover, I used the mean value for each year and applied a convolution with a Gaussian kernel to smooth the result. The map can be adjusted both opacity (left map) and the layer (right). The map was produced using Google Earth Engine as a prominent resource of multi-petabyte catalogue combinations of satellite imagery and geospatial datasets with planetary-scale analysis capabilities.
